On-going Welfare Activities

In this year and in the coming year special attention is being given towards RURAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES at village Ramnagar, Uttarbhag, the project site of Sree Satyananda Mahapeeth. The programs undertaken for execution are as follows :

1. Primary School

Sree Satyananda Prathamik Vidyalaya, primary school of good standard is being constructed at Ramnagar-Uttarbhag site which is a very backward area inhabited by poor people. This primary school is expected to accommodate about 200 children in the beginning for character oriented education. The details are being worked out for running and adminstration etc. The building will cost about Rs.12 lacs. Contruction is progressing fast with the courtesy of Sri K.D. Saraf and others devotees.

2. Water Filtration Plant For Supply of Arsenic Free Pure Drinking Water

As the area around the project site is arsenic prone, this unique Water Treatment Plant is being erected with the help and expertise of Rotary Club of Central Calcutta. This will provide arsenic free drinking water to about 2000 people daily. The cost is estimated to be about Rs. 6 lacs. Construction is progressing fast.

 

 

3. Mother and Child Welfare Home Cum General Medical Center

Just after the Foundation Stone laying ceremony by revered Sangha Janani Sri Archana Maa, the work has been started with the help of Lions Club of Baruipur. The building of first phase will require a minimum of Rs.15 lacs. Further Rs.20 lacs will be required to provide equipment and furniture etc. There will be a ward for maternity with labour room facilities. There will be an outdoor section for common diseases with doctors of Paediatry, Cardiology, General Medicine, ENT and Eye etc. At least 200 patients will be benefited by this medical service everyday. About 15 villages with population of 25,000 people will be covered. This is an urgent need of the area.

4. Herbal Honey Research Center With Bee-Keeping

Production of Herbal Honey in the Herbal Honey Research center of Mahapeeth has been a successful achievement qualitatively. Though in small quantity several types of honey is produced which is proving helpful to cure many diseases. One such product is ‘Milk Honey’ which has been found a sure cure of anemia and lately a great help for patients of Thalassemia. The frequency of blood transfusion is reduced. Patients with regular administration of milk honey have shown remarkable signs of recovery under observation of Dr. A.N. Dutta, President of Bengal Haematological Association. Qualified Doctors and scholars are seriously engaged in Research work to explore the greater possibilities of Herbal Honey as curative as well as preventive medicine. This area of work requires a minimum capital of Rs.2 lacs at the moment.

5. Construction of abode for retired persons i.e., ‘Vanaprastha Ashram’

The construction of a cluster of cottages will be started soon. These cottages will be meant for residential abode for retired persons with religious bent of mind willing to dedicate their experience and energy towards the cause of Nation Building. This unit of Mahapeeth is named as ‘Vanaprastha Ashram’ where residents will find ample opportunity of their own spiritual upliftment with divine bliss, as well as rendering service to the society. Therefore just retired or voluntarily retired persons with experience as Teacher, Doctor, Engineer, Administrator, Accountant or experience in any special branch of career, are requested to contact us with full particulars.

The cottages to be constructed in ‘Vanaprastha Ashram’ will be allotted to such persons who will be selected to reside and participate in the activity of Mahapeeth with sincere involvement, devotion and dedication.

The cost of construction of one room will be payable just after selection and finalization as per terms and conditions to be laid down by Mahapeeth. Moreover a minimum amount of maintenance expense will also be payable to meet the recurring expenditure of the abode, calculated on the basis of actuals.

6. Construction of Low Cost Houses for poor villagers together with Vocational Traning Centres and Income Generation activities

This project name Hunger-Health-Humanity or 3H project is being patronised by Rotary International Foundation through local Narendrapur Rotary Club as a joint venture with Sree Satyananda Mahapeeth. The total cost of this Rural Development project is estimated to be over Rs.3 crores. Out of this over Rs.2.5 crores has been sanctioned by Rotary International. The ground work is in progress and Mahapeeth is proceeding fast to fulfil its own part of commitment to achieve this model target of service to poor villagers.
